Emerald B. is a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Hamilton and she is currently attending Western University for Popular Music Studies. She has performed at venues across Ontario and is a former member of JUNO Nominated group (Girl Pow-R), performing in 2 US tours and solo at Playlist Live in Orlando, Florida. She also loves to perform the Anthem at various sporting events including Hamilton and Brantford Bulldogs, Forge FC Soccer, Hamilton Cardinals Baseball and at Western’s sports games and Homecoming this year. Selena Carlson is a unique vocalist from Fort Erie. What makes Selena unique is she has an Autism diagnosis. She was labeled non communicative. With the power of music therapy, Selena found her voice! In 2024, Selena was named Outstanding Youth of the Year from 2 different cities! Pride Niagara and also Toronto Inspire Awards. Selena performs all over the Niagara region for special private events, sporting events as well as fundraisers supporting many different charities ranging from dog rescues, safe spaces for youth and raising awareness on Mental Health. Indigenous Singer/songwriter originally from northern Ontario, currently living in Hamilton, ON. He started playing guitar at the age of ten and performing on stage regularly shortly after. Luann Christine Carrier
Singer-songwriter Luann Christine Carrier hails from Hamilton, Ontario. She evolved from her humble beginnings singing in bar bands in Northern Ontario in the 80's. After relocating she decided to pursue music more seriously, attending Mohawk College and graduating from the Music Program in 2003. Luann favours writing in a Jazz/Blues style, but also writes R&B and Pop tunes. Audience members find her lyrics relatable as they stem from real-world emotional experiences. Her humour shines through at times, such as in one tune entitled, "Recycle, Seduce & Reuse". After taking a hiatus from singing to raise her family, Luann is now ready to showcase her songwriting skills and reawaken her passion for performing!
Matthew James
Matthew James is an Australian singer-songwriter based in Hamilton, Ontario. Self-taught and passionate about music from an early age, Matthew's work explores personal struggles and emotional depth. After moving to Canada at 19, he started busking and performing at open mics in Calgary, Alberta, where his talent led to performances at venues like the Calgary Folk Club and The Nick (The Nickelodeon Music Club). Now, Matthew is preparing to release his debut single, "Monsters," a song filled with raw emotion and introspective lyrics, marking the start of an exciting chapter in his music career. Megan Gilbey
In one car ride when she was little, she sang along to Barry Manilow and blurted out, “I want to be a singer.” The only problem was she couldn’t speak. She had Selective Mutism, a severe anxiety disorder characterized by the inability to speak in certain situations. She could talk perfectly fine at home but was mute in social situations. In 2020, friends suggested she make a YouTube channel, and the next day TheMeganGilbey was born. Unable to read music, she taught herself by ear. Now, not only does she face a camera, but in 2023 she started singing live. From hiding behind music stands, she was mentored into being able to face an audience with confidence and grace. She has sung across Southern Ontario, learning how to perform and overcome Selective Mutism. With determination, honesty, love, persistence, and pure stubbornness, anything is possible for her. She needed someone with Selective Mutism on stages whom she could aspire to be, so she decided to be that person. Melissa Weldon is a singer/songwriter from Hamilton, Ontario. She is a graduate of Humber College's Vocal Jazz Performance Program and has been writing and performing music for over 20 years. Weldon's musical style straddles the lines between jazz, pop, and folk. She is a staple of Hamilton's music scene and has been featured on Cable 14 and local radio station CFMU-FM. By day, she is a graphic designer at McMaster University. After a lengthy break from music to pursue her career, Melissa is excited to return to the local music scene.
Linda Tamburri, Melinda Rewbury & Michael Hanson
Linda Tamburri holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Music. As a versatile musician and educator, she excels as a pianist, organist, music theory specialist, composer, arranger, performer, choir director, and teacher at the Ontario Conservatory of Music. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Linda launched a YouTube channel to facilitate online worship services at her church, where she serves as music director and organist. This initiative not only supported her church community but also became a vital resource for her students when in-person music lessons were unavailable. Linda's extensive knowledge and experience in music make her an invaluable asset to our panel of judges.
A dedicated member and staple in the Port Colborne Operetic Society and a prominent figure among bands in the Niagara region, Melinda Rewbury is known for her unwavering professionalism and consistent excellence. As a constant source of inspiration, her honest critiques are highly valued, especially in her role as a judge. Most recently, Melinda has captivated audiences as the lead singer of the Parkside Jazz Band, showcasing her versatile talent and deep commitment to the performing arts.
MICHAEL HANSON is the original founder and key member of iconic 80’s band Glass Tiger. A 5-time Juno award winner and Grammy nominee he is one of North America's most sought after producer/songwriters. He has collaborated with some of the best songwriters in the world including Canada's Jim Vallance (Bryan Adams, Roxette), Sue Shifron-Cassidy & Susan Pomeranz (Cher, Chicago), John Bettis (Madonna, The Carpenters) and Brad Buxxer (Michael Jackson) to name only a few. He has toured with The Moody Blues (The Hollywood Bowl), Journey (USA), Cheap Trick, Tom Cochrane and Tina Turner (Europe) and has sold multiple gold and platinum records worldwide over a 35 year career as well as composing for Netflix Series and Feature Films. Hanson is widely known for his highly original vocal/instrument production hooks and exceptional arrangements across various genres from country to pop and heavy rock. Kim Mitchell has praised him as one of Canada's most prolific songwriters. His work as a music producer in the studio is unparalleled and truly inspiring, earning him the nickname "MAGIC Michael Hanson".
